The majority of the websites I work on usually have stats that show most members running on 1024px. For this reason, I always try and design around that number - since it also allows for a fair amount of space to utilize.
Other than that, If i ever go fluid it's usually between 90-100%. |

I used to design so it would still look good in 800x600, but the more I think about it now, it's just not worth it. According to my analytics, only 1 or 2 people are using that resolution out of thousands of members.

950px works for me, in case big images appear in threads it doesnt stretch out the page on the older skins...
