Default Asking for a heart break :)

Ok guys, and gals It's 4am and I just finished making major changes to my site. I'm tired, my butt hurts, and my eyes are about crossed. I would like some feedback on how things look. PublicWarriors.Com

I am aware of one issue I'm just not good enough or knowledgeable enough to correct. I have a notice using the vb notice selection that shows on all pages. I would prefer it to only show on the forums/index.php page but, I ain't that bright.

I just did a retool a while back and don't have many members but, I have a purpose for this site. And I am working very hard to make my site the best on the net! Whoaaaaaa

Hey, everybody has to start somewhere.

Check the site out and let me know what I can do to improve it.

That's a very noble idea for a website! You can't go wrong with supporting the troops

I see what you mean about the notice, it's definitely the kind of thing which should go only on the homepage. But I can see you're already speaking to someone about modifying your navbar template, which is a good idea.

This is nothing major, but if you're browsing the site in a lower resolution, parts of the site are fixed width and some are fluid. I was browsing using Chrome, but my window didn't fill my screen so the header looked a bit messed up. It's not a huge deal though.

You've actually got 2 welcome messages. One is your big Notice, the other one is your "Welcome to the Forums" message. I'd look at getting rid of that, it's wasting space.

In fact this might solve both problems. You can either modify navbar to only show your welcome notice on the homepage, or you can just disable the notice and edit your FORUMHOME template (what's in between the 'Guest Welcome Message' comments). You'd also need to shuffle it around a little bit to move it up. And obviously the big downside is that you'd have to edit your template every time you want to change your message.

This post has a ton of information which helped me:

Ignore the first 2 sections, but most of the rest is relevant.
Definitely look at setting up vBSEO Sitemap, Google Webmaster Tools and Google Analytics, it will help you a lot. My traffic has gone from 600 to over 1000 visitors a day, and my registration rate has improved dramatically

First of all, thanks for the very best kind of critique there is, constructive. The manner in which you described what you were seeing allowed me to better understand what it was I needed to fix. A BIG help indeed!

I addressed everything you mentioned except for one item and that's got to wait until I've had some sleep.

Designing for lower resolution viewers has always been a problem for me. I run 1152 x 864 on the pc I do all my site work on. My wife has a wide screen running some ridiculously high resolution and of course the site always looks good on that. I usually check my site on my laptop that runs 800x600 to make sure nothing is way off.

The 'Welcome To The Forums" message is gone now. Looks better. Of course that don't show when logged in but, I see what you mean.

Could that be from the map being to wide? That's an easy fix.

Again, thank you for such a good critique.

Now, ZZZZzzzz @ 5:30 am

After a good nights sleep, I see more of what you were referring too with the scrunchy table cells at lower resolutions.

Thanks for the critique'
