Hello everyone,
I, like so many of you, am now having problems with mass spam bot registrations. However, unlike many forums, mine is region specific to only the Northwest United States. What I would like to do is prevent anyone from an IP address in any country besides the US, Canada, and Mexico from registering. If it's too difficult to block just the registration, I'd be willing to block their viewing of the site as well. How can this be done? I'm quite confident this will cut down on the vast majority of spam bot registrations and save me some precious bandwidth. However, is there a modification or two I should be running to protect from 'domestic' spammers? Right now I have two simple math questions, but no email or image verification as these were both giving us problems. Many of our members are over 50 and not very proficient with computers, so they couldn't find the registration emails when they went into their spam folders or they couldn't see and enter the recaptcha image. |

Thank you sir!
--------------- Added [DATE]1233893079[/DATE] at [TIME]1233893079[/TIME] --------------- Dang, looks like that's a very poor solution as it makes my .htaccess file over 1MB! |
