Default Social Space

Hi Peeps

I have been setting up www.SocialSpace.co.uk for the past few weeks, putting in place all the information pages and such, I think it is now ready for you to tell me what you think!

Social Space is a community of disabled people & carers who just want to chat and have fun with others. We have many sources of help and information on disability and health related matters.

Not all these pages can be seen by unregistered members but most of them can be, enough for you to tell me what you think.

I would also like any advice on how to market this site. I need help in spreading the word about the site and any help would be GREAT. Comments and ideas very much welcomed.

Snowy

That's funny, to me, that looks like the only change that has been made to the default vB skin aside from the logo..

I mean, you've made a few changes here and there, but for the most part it's a stock vB. Just kind of boring.. been there, seen that... thousands of times, you know?

Yes and you have to remember the site is for disabled people so It cant be to complicated. It has to work with screen reading software and be visualy easy to read.

I think default vB is very complicated compared to how it could be. I'm all for making my sites extremely easy to use, and I personally don't think that the default vB really offers that. You have to have an entire FAQ section to explain how the site works. It's silly.

If Screen Reading is a big thing for you, I would consider getting a layout made with semantic markup, and laying it out with css. Unfortunately, with the current state of vB's default style, it'll be hard to find someone willing to put in the blood, sweat, and tears without charging a good chunk of change. Perhaps it will be something to consider when vB 4 is released, since they claim to be redoing the markup.
