Is it possible to insert each members userid number into their postbit?

Just add $post[userid] to wherever you want it displayed in the postbit.

but wouldnt that show say in postbit as 'userid'?
i was hoping to find something that i could rename whats shown

That will just put the number there... You put whatever you want around it. For example,
