UKBL ~ Easy Page Redirect
Divert to ads, polls, survey, Internal, External Pages and then back to your site :up:
Hi Gang
Heres another Easy hack for all you promising Admins if you want to make some money from your site, and want to give guests, unregistered and low usergroup members an opportunity to upgrade or go for subscribed membership then this is the hack for you.
What do i do???
First you need to decide for what purpose your going to use the redirect for...
If its for advertising then you could send it to a page full of banners or links, just make a HTML page and add your panners and links, Then add it to your forum directory, you could name it advert.html and thats the page you need to place the code below. A copy is available for download in the zip file.
If its for another site associated with your forum then just add the script to the footer or header of that site, ideally the header, As an example i added the demo to an old topsite i had with great results see the pic below..
You could have it on an affiliate sign up page, or even if your doing a special offer, just make a web page and link to it, change it as little or as often as you want with the knowledge that members will always be taken back to your site.
As i said the script needs to go on the directed page or site, with a link either in the Navbar or with using the Easy Menu Tabs. Just link it to the diverted site page and then within XX seconds you could be back where you started. The amount of seconds is settable you you be it 10 seconds or 2400
Heres the code in full as it stands in the demo
Code:
<form name="redirect">
<center>
<font face="Arial" font size="4" color="Red"><b> You will be redirected to the Arcade in
<input type="text" size="2" name="redirect2">
Seconds, Please check out our Sponsors</b></font>
</center>
<script>
<!--
var targetURL="http://www.ukbusinesslive.co.uk/forum/arcade.php?"
var countdownfrom=30
var currentsecond=document.redirect.redirect2.value=countdownfrom+1
function countredirect(){
if (currentsecond!=1){
currentsecond-=1
document.redirect.redirect2.value=currentsecond
}
else{
window.location=targetURL
return
}
setTimeout("countredirect()",1000)
}
countredirect()
//-->
</script>
Here are the bits you need to change
First find this...
Code:
<font face="Arial" font size="4" color="Red"><b> You will be redirected to the Arcade in
You can change the type and style of the font, as well as the color and size, thats easy enough, After the Bold Tag (<b>) is where you add the first instruction, change this to what you want.
Next... Find this...
Code:
Seconds, Please check out our Sponsors</b></font>
Change this to whater you want, But leave in "Seconds" as this describes the countdown units.
Then we need to tell it where to dirvert back to, Remember this is the return Url Address that you want the member to go back to, so find the return attribute below
Code:
var targetURL="http://www.ukbusinesslive.co.uk/forum/arcade.php?"
and change this for the url of your choice
Finally we need to let the script know how long to take before your diverted back to the forums, so find the following
Code:
var countdownfrom=30
and change this to whatever value you want, My demo below shows 30 seconds, but it could be as little or as long as you want
On the Top menu tags the first one you will see is "Arcade" Click on that to try this redirect.
I have the tab sending the member to the external page/site rather than the arcade, with the script installed in the diverted page, the member will then be taken back to the arcade after 30 seconds.
As always, any questions or if you come up with a great idea for this hack, then please let us know, I will endeavor to answer every single post so please don't be shy.
Please click Installed if you Like it
Take care
