Default Why would .rss feeds work and .xml not?

Hi. I have been running .rss feeds on my site without any problems. I've now tried numerous .xml feeds and they are not working. Can you please help me???

I changed everything to YES in the vBulletin Options -> External Data Provider

I currently have vBadvanced CMPS, Flashchat, and passiveVid added to my forums, but not sure what that would do to effect it?

The error I am getting is:

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@xxxxx.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

And did you look in your server error log like the Error Message says to do? That would tell you what the problem is. It's a server thing.

Hi Lynne. Thanks. I'm definately an novice here. I went to my server and looked at the error log. Here is what came up. Any suggestions on how I can fix? (the x's are my IP and my website info-replaced)

Hmmm, maybe post the link to the xml feed and I can try it on my test forum. It may just be a feed that vb can't read.

To troubleshoot this, reupload all the original vB non-image files (except install.php). Make sure you upload these in ASCII format and overwrite the ones on the server.

The file rssposter.php has nothing to do with External Data Providers. This is pulling files into your system. vBulletin does not support the importing of XML files because there is no standard format on how the file should look. You can see this by looking at vBulletin's own files in the includes/xml directory. Each is a valid XML file but has very different formats and tags.

The RSS Poster feature can only read RSS and ATOM (after 3.7.0) feeds because they have a defined and published format. While both RSS and ATOM are XML file types, not all XML fits this format.

The error above would indicate that you have a bad feed that doesn't include what is being looked for and should be deleted from the Feed Manager.

Hi Lynne, Marco and Wayne.

I've added additional .rss feeds without any challenges. But every time I add a .xml feed, I run into the same issue. Here is an example of a feed which gives me the same error:

http://www.foxwaterway.org/rss/fwa_rss.xml

I do have vBadanced CMPS and Flash Chat, do these interfere? is there somone whom would trouble shoot this for me for $$

I just tried that feed on my test site and it ran just fine. I do not have vbadvanced or flash chat.

If you want to pay someone to fix this for you, you may post in Requests For Paid Services
