Requiring tags and tag selection

Hello,

Would anyone be willing and able to helo me out with the following.

1. I need a way to require tags when people are posting a new thread.
2. If possible I would like them to be able to select one or more tags from a predefined list, using checkboxes or a multiple selection list.

The first is the more important one, as the second can be simulated by disallowing the creation of new tags and creating a list of predefined tags as an admin. But both would be preferable.

A plugin would be nice, but if it requires direct source code modification, I'm not scared of that either. As long as I know what to do (which I don't at the moment, I'm no php programmer myself).

It'll probably be for vB 3.8

I know about Zoints Thread Tags, which has a require tag options, but I doubt that works in combination with the 'can create new tags' permission of the default tag system. Plus I prefer working with the default system as much of posssible.

I tried Zoints Thread Tags in combination with Pre-Defined Topic Tags for Zoints Thread Tags, but that does not seem to work with 3.8, plus it doesn't show which tags have been selected.

Yes, I've seen that one. And that's not what I'm looking for. On our website we have a specific list of subjects which are relevant for our organization. These subjects can be found in multiple places. I would like to use the tag system to assign these subjects to all forum threads which would make it a lot easier to find posts for these subjects.

At the moment we use social groups for this, we've created a group for each subject and people can join these groups and post in group forums (using socialforums). However a thread often has more then one subject, and that can't be done using social groups.

Maybe this explains a bit more clearly what I need.

This is exactly what I also would like.

The prefix system is nice but too narrow (only one "subject" to choose even though the thread might covers other "prefix subjects") - and some people don't like how it looks

The present tag system is nice but too broad (people can use many words for the same thing and spell and misspell them different).

The two suggestions are exactly what a lot of vbulletin owners are looking for! If they can't see the light now - they will...
