Default Style colours?

Okay, The style colours are terrible (no offense princeton) but when it comes to re-colouring styles you fail and fail miserably. I'm quite astounded you want you name in the footer associated with these styles. I'm referring to how much of the same colours you have implemented in each style, take the red style for example, Bright red tcats followed by red thead gradients. Red forum status icons, followed by red buttons.

What's the suggestion? Re-colour the style(s). Give them some other colours so the styles are broken into some kind of 3 coloured usage system. Give the vbulletin buttons another colour other than red and also the forum status icons. This goes for all the styles.

Making colour adjustments and re-colouring the primary colours with slightly subtle variations will produce far better results.

Also, the re-colouring in the icons, buttons etc is terrible layers are there for a reason and should be used appropriately instead of implementing a adjustment colour slap bang n the top.

A vb.com staff member pointed this out as being bland, i think he was a little harsh and wrong at the same time. The colours a mind blowingly bright and colours overused where it's not needed.

Don't think of this as a complaint, Just from someone that knows what they are talking about. The only reason this thread is created now was because i never really seen how bad the other styles were untill the style changer appeared on the forumhome.

Isn't their someone on staff that is graphics savy and knows how to re-colour the styles? It seriously wouldn't take a lot of effort.

Another thing I noticed are the small icons, they have the wrong matting/background in relation to the background they are being applied onto. Take the for example, It's showing a squared border when it should be seamlessly intergrated into the background it's being aplied onto. It's just another case of sloppy shortcuts which paves the way how much these styles are rushed and pushed out expecting everyone to settle for second best for a board that should be topping other rivals in the BB software arena. It's sloppy and there's no excuse for it.

edit: Can't you bring kerry anne on board? She has had experience in duplicating older styles (vbulletin orientated). Atleast, experience in using and implementing visually enhanced colours/re-colouring.

All a matter of taste really. I don't have a problem with the monochromatic styles myself. Not like the color variations are new... Its the same colors that they have had here for a while. Just a new way of choosing (not a method I am fond of either).

Is the same wayne that debated with me over png? and (think back) pointing out mattes showing on incorrect backgrounds?

It's just an excuse, the styles can be put down to preference, but not matting mistakes, there's no excuse for that. It shows that the designer just lacked steam, and being a modifications site, an official one i may add flaws such as matting problems should not be present. Infact, they should have not been there in the first place.

Layers are there for a good reason, when have you seen a red quill? take a look at the new thread button. The adjustment layer should have been placed underneath not over the top of every layer to get the style out and have people settle for sloppy workmanship.

You remain adament that there's nothing wrong which is why we are graced with styles half complete and should reside in the modification graveyard. Preference is fine, mistakes are not. And it is a mistake that shouldn't be present in styles on jelsofts official modifications site.

Didn't say there isn't anything wrong. They are using GIFs which I think should be tossed into the abyss of hell never to return.

I commented on one aspect of the style which is the use of various hues of the same color in a monochromatic style. I don't think that each style needs three different colors.

I appreciate what your trying to do wayne in the way of side tracking in what I am suggesting. I could state many good reasons why .gif will remain the standard (like i've said to you 4 times now in as many years) but that won't change, nor will the fact that you never really read my argument in why enhancements to the designs should be evaluated, discussed and then implemented.

Anyway, .png doesn't support animation and before you pull out the .mng card the format will never become anymore than me going to moon and planting an english flag to prove that we would be the first to land on the moon.

Anyway, Style enhancements? means more work for you princeton it's only a matter of re-colouring existing gradients and using the adjustment layers in the correct location when multiple layers/sets are present.

You're the one that brought up the gif issue. Anyway, I have better things to do with my time than to nitpick or argue with you. Maybe the staff will see merit in your suggestion, maybe not.

Personally, I like the red and blue styles. The green would be my preference but the icons are too bright for personal taste. Couldn't care less about layers on the recolored images to be quite truthful though.

To the OP:

You are a real piece of work. How about a New Years resolution for yourself and stop the backhanded slags at others? "no offense princeton" followed by "you fail and fail miserably"?

Or how about even thanking the team here for implementing a graphics tab, something you had a moan about upteen times?

A subjective statement if there ever was one.

Do your homework. I thanked paul. Infact, I was the first to reply in the thread in the feedback area to the thread where paul made the announcement of the xmas updates.

I have nothing to thank the team for. Infact, they should be thanking me for the abundance of suggestions I make to the graphics area. They don't get implemented because they require a thankyou from me, they are implemented because they are sound, beneficial suggestions that help the community.

Did my homework and see you did in the closed thread - apologies for that.

The rest of my post stands however.

A suggestion if I may? Perhaps work on the delivery of your suggestions because you really come off as being rude and arrogant. Are you familar with a user named Grover over on vb.com? I invite you to see how he goes about being a productive member of that community...
