Default DB errors?

whenever someone tries to view a thread as a guest, it gives a database error. any reasons as to why it does this + if possible, a fix? i've tried reinstalling, removing any mods that might cause it, but no go. thanks.

forgot to mention:
this only happens if you click the thread from forumhome as lastpost, but not if you click it directly (as guest)

It would help to see the actual database error.

Try disabling your plugins and see if you still have this problem.
Note: To temporarily disable the plugin system, edit config.php and add this line right under <?php

PHP Code:
define('DISABLE_HOOKS'true);

A database error on your server should not freeze your computer. In order to view a database error, you need to view the page source and then copy and paste it - is that when it is freezing? If the page itself is freezing, this sounds more like a browser issue. Try using a different browser.

I would guess this is from a modification since default vbulletin doesn't have a sql query that simply says "update". Try disabling your plugins as I suggested above and see if the error goes away.

As for the second one you posted, when you see that page, you need to then view the page source and near the bottom of the page source will be something that looks like your first snippet of code in the post above - that is the mysql error. See if it is different than the one you posted.

I tried disabling the plugins, but the sometimes I get an Internal Server error.
For the second error, this is the code in between comments:
