I don't think anyone can really answer this for you. You can look at hosting sites and get an idea, but it really depends on your forum and if it takes off or not. For instance, I started with a $20/month package. Within five months we were moved to our own dedicated server. I just did my site accounting and we have spent over $12K USD in four years on site related costs (hosting, remote backup, vbulletin licensing, domain registrations, etc). It really depends on your site.

You don't need a dedicated box (server) for a forum, unless you're running other web applications.
http://www.bluehost.com are an excellent host, amazingly cheap, US based (afaik). Offer basically unmetered storage also. (I have a few sites with them) Cheers |
