iMac?
For christmas I am getting either 20" or 24" iMac.
If I have the 20" I can keep the PC next to it. If I have the 24" I can only have that on the desk. Should I stick to the 20" so I can use the PC for working on. Then the iMac for small tasks? |

actually you can drop your PC... with BootCamp, internal to Mac-OS, you can use Windows Vista on the same computer... you just have to reboot when needed...
i have a iMac 20", and running Vista Ultimate with Photoshop CS4 (example) without any problem, and Halo 2 without a glitch... people can whinne that the Bootcamp is not perfect, but which PC is perfect, tell me!!! |

Or run Parallels and you can have both running at the same time. Why do you want to still have your PC? I used to have a PC and my iMac both on my desk, then I got my 24" iMac and after a while I realized I never booted my PC anymore so I got rid of the PC and have never missed it.

Running Parallels is mint! I have a 24" iMac and run Parallels and don't have a single problem running coherence at all. Works wonders

anyway, 90% of PC-Windows Apps are already running on a Mac without translation, and the other 10% are just to be converted with similar apps...
you have less games on the Mac, but with better quality... just as example, Spore is the same engine (same sourcecode) on Mac/PC, run smoother on a Mac... good luck in your switch though.. |

For what I use my PC for... I know if I do get this Mac. I will not be using the PC

I needed to use Parallels to get onto my works website. All you could use was Windows it was brutal but necessary. |

Get a bigger (or second) desk. I currently have two plus a low table between them for towers to sit on. Getting ready to move in a third desk and a floor model TV (I love free stuff ).
Another solution is to run the PC without a monitor (headless) and communicate with it through other devices on the network. Just don't let it go to waste! I have plenty of ancient machines around the house and I'm constantly trying to find new uses for them. There is no point in throwing out old hardware. If you're going to get rid of it give it to me..I could use another monitor.. |
