Notifications Help

I tried to move my notifications from my navbar to an ad location template (the one that goes right next to the banner). It worked fine, but it won't update for any notifications, it only displays the user's PM total, rather than their notification count. Can anyone take a swing at what's wrong?

I'm including an image, showing how the notifications work in one, but not the other.

You need a plugin to make the notifications drop down work in the header I beleive. There was one floating around here some where, but i can't find it atm.

I found this thread, https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=166804 in which I noticed you posted in, but I tried the solution mentioned and it had no effect on anything.
