Default Removing registration fields?

I've noticed that registration for vbulletin is a rather painful and long process compared to other social sites. A lot of sites have started to requiring only username/password/email, 3 fields total to signup which takes about 10-15 seconds to fill. I have removed some of the fields, but I was wondering if it's possible to remove the date of birth and receive emails sections in the registration. I want to have people be able to fill them out in their profile details, but I want to make to actual initial registration as simple as possible.

So my question is can you customize the registration form in the vb options so the date of birth, or timezone sections are removed when registering?

Thanks

Yes.
I did this yesterday.

Edit "register templates" >> "register"

Near the bottom, there is a line about Timezone and Receive E-mails.

For a demo, check out www.modelscheme.com/register.php

However, I would like to know how to make a registration page on 2 pages, so the main stuff is done on page one, then all the custom fields on page 2.

Thanks, I removed most of the fields, but the birthday (D.O.B) field is required so I can not remove it. It's using an if statement though, so perhaps there a way to turn this off in the options of vb?

if you look in vbulletin options, there is one that says:

"require date of birth on registration, 1902 to current year?"

under "User Profile Options"

http://www.gfx-help.com/register.php

Thanks for the help Hex, it looks much better now. One last question, is it possible to remove the confirm fields for email and password? My fav registration form would have to be on http://vimeo.com/ and I would like to make something similar on my site, on the home page. Can the confirm fields for email/pass be turned off or is that not a feature of vb?

I'm not sure what register form you're talking about, but when i click that link, I get one that has about 2349 more options than a standard one? :erm:

Well this site is for a model site, so I removed most of vB's features and made it look my own, so the register page has a lot of vB's features removed and has my content on it.

This is why I need to know how to make registration a 2-step process
