Why is there a 3.6.x, 3.7.x still and now 3.8.x?

I thought vbulletin was moving toward EOL and concentrating a new version 4? All these constant updates make you have to fix modified customizations in code over and over and over.

3.6 -> 3.7 brought new features that users wanted 3.7 -> 3.8 builds upon these features and adds functionality and a few more features to them.

You don't have to upgrade each time just stay at your current version if you want to wait till 4.0

But they suggest to upgrade immediately. Are there loop holes or security issues if I'm already @ 3.7.2?

3.7.2 has security issues yes, you just need to upgrade to the same release tree but with a different minor version 3.7.4

bugs and exploits will always come up, vbulletin releases patches to fix those bugs
