Default Server Provider said my site was causing high load issues

and that is what they linked me. i have checked over my stuff time and time again and i even went to the vbulletin.com to optimize and the only thing that i could have done differently was upgrade from 3.6.4. there has to be something im missing that would cause that high load, but i have no clue how to find out.

errors.php isn't a standard vBulletin file so we can't really tell what the cause for the load is without knowing what that file is from.

Are you on shared, dedicated, or a VPS server?

try disabling some of the mods until the load goes down, then when you find the one that makes it drop, I would find another mod and not us that one..

im on a vps server. the problem is the load on the server will be fine. i have the mod to see the load on my forums and its almost always fine. but then randomly it spikes up. and supposedly we caused the server to bog down. its the same thing they told us like 6 months ago, but it seems odd that it will run fine for the most part and then suddenly will spike and cause everything to shut down.

also, ive done the optimization from vbulletin.com but the only thing i can really do being on a vps that was recommended is upgrade my vbulletin (im on 3.6.4), but i havent done an upgrade before and i dont want to lose anything.

i dont know if that makes any difference to anyone. i upgraded from 3.6.4 to 3.7.4 today. i eliminated a few hacks that i had (extended rep and submit a quote were active ones). i really want to make sure my site doesnt have the same issues its been having, but i feel like im in over my head which sucks.

If you're on a true VPS you should still have access to my.cnf, php.ini, httpd.conf and other configuration files that would allow you to optimize your settings to reduce load.

Well I can't seem to find those files. I read you can create a my.cnf file but i have no clue where i would even begin with that. I don't see any of those three files.

I don't see any where on that page that you host has set limits to what resources you can use anyways, seeing as this is a semi-dedicated and not a VPS, as a VPS is alloted what its allowed to use, in my opinion, this host is trying to nudge you into a larger package of hosting, my guess is that they will continue to be of no help to you in the support area, meaning they will not tell you what is causing the high load, if they continue this tactic, i would change hosts.
