Default Easy to work only on a 9 to 5 basis ?

Ok, i admit it, i can't work on regular basis... if i wake up earlier than planned on morning, i start working until the bell ring... and as i'm a sleepy head, i need less sleep, so when everybody's in bed, i continue to work until i snap my head on the keyboard...

Lately -- i can say since last week -- i decided i had enough and started a 9 to 5 business schedule... AAARRRGGHHHHH

i have to find something else to do outside that schedule, and it's impossible... i already take care of the kids while working, so when i do not work, what would i do more?!... taking care of more kids?...

last week i even got operated for a cyst in the hand... in the middle of it, not just at the end of a finger... the heavy thing, with the big package at the hospital, yeah, the nurses etc... (big picture done, i was surrounded by women in need of breast surgeries for whatever reason, my doctor is in plastic surgery) .... what i have to do right now is take 4 weeks of non-work vacation, forced by a certificate...

What the heck, what can i do with my life if i can't touch a keyboard for 4 weeks... get off of me... so i managed to simply modify my table a little and i'm able to work without breaking my hand...

9 to 5, yeah... can't resist... tssss

4 weeks off, you're lucky. That's a month. There's a lot of interesting things you can do in a month. Is taking an actual vacation out of the question? I think the computer may be too tempting if you are close to it all day, hehe.

i never took any vacation in 37 years, so why start because of an injury.. lol

the funny thing is that the doctor gave me that 4 weeks certificate AFTER i told him i was working at home.. lol kind of thing he wanted to give me to save me from the dishes and laundry.

the computer is not a tempting thing for me, it's more the lack of friends... i think i will have to work that first, finding some friends so i can spend some time without the kids.. lol

9-5? No way. I work on here 8am - 2:30 pm which is when my son's at school. Then jump back on after homework is done and before starting dinner - usually 3 - 4:30. Then back again from 6pm - 8pm, spend more one-on-one time with my son (he's usually playing quietly in my office while I'm working, so no, he's not being neglected, hehe). THEN.... after he's asleep, here I am, usually til 1 or 2 am (I'm a nightowl).

Yeah erratic schedule, but it works for me.

Managing your time is probably the hardest thing to do when working from home. Fortunately, I don't really have any social issues, as I'm a rather social person. However, the ones that know me real well have seen me go crazy when trying to integrate working online with my schedule at times.

During the week is probably when I get most of my day-work done. I usually work from morning till noon throughout the week and then really late or early in the day on weekends. It's probably a bit of an "unstable" schedule as well, but hey.. it works.

My advice:
Get your emails forwarded to your mobile, get a phone with internet access in order to do quick checkups with your work when you're on the run. Now, remind yourself you still have a life and go have some fun And if you're having a hard time getting yourself away from the computer, we always have our nerdy skills to help us I think something like this should work:

PHP Code:
// Your social life begins at 7pm
$mysociallife_startsat '19';

// Your social life ends at 5am
$mysociallife_endsat '5';

$hour_of_the_day date("H"TIMENOW);

// Are you allowed to have a life atm?
if($hour_of_the_day $mysociallife_startsat AND $hour_of_the_day $mysociallife_endsat){

    echo
"What are you doing online? You're suppose to have a life right now!";

Actually Gio, (son), your last sentences remember me of an article posted at ALA last month:

Working From Home: The Readers Respond

strangely, i could barely see something there that fit my situation... my primary job is to take care of the kids, then handling the home cares, then my own business...hard to manage... lol

a lot of coffee is the only solution i have!

--------------- Added [DATE]1225167601[/DATE] at [TIME]1225167601[/TIME] ---------------

oh, btw, sometimes in my day i have to close the browser -- most of the time i'm reading threads here, start a reply, write 2 lines and then decide that i do not have to answer, because it's not my site (echoes of the "you are not a moderator nor a staff here" sentence come along) and then click, close the browser... entirely... and go doing some other task in the kitchen, like cleaning dishes that are on the countertop for ages!!!

For about a week I moved to a "9 to 5" kind of schedule.

Needless to say, I got drunk one night, and it screwed it all up.

So now I play Playstation from 10 am to 2 pm (Soul Calibur 4 is consuming my life), work from 2:30 to 10, then go have my nightly social life that can extend well into the morning, and repeat.

It works.
