Hello.
I have allways been wondering. I know there is a such thing as database backup. But nothing really to ensure that your files are protected incase something goes wrong. What i would really like to know is... Is it possible to back up the whole of your vBulletin??? Including the whole forum files, your modifications, and including the database backups And if this is possible, anyone know how? Ideas anyone? This theory has been bugging me for a long time. Thanks in advance. |

Yes, it is possible, but no data is actually stored in the files. You can just have a database backup and you would be able to recover an exact copy of your forum. You only need to backup your attachments directory if you choose to store attachments in the file system.

Well, you can also store avatars and profilepics and signaturepics in the file system. I have a mod in my profile to make backups of those files.

If you're the admin at your site, this shouldn't have been bugging you for more than a month or two. At that point you should be familiar with backups and be doing them regularly.
I do daily db (forum) backups, and monthly I go into cpanel and download full site backups. |
