new user group getting wrong theme
I just created a new user group for a few of our members that are part of our team. I've got VBulletin style options set so users can't change their theme. Only users that I've made a member of this group get the non-default theme. Let me clarify. My forum default theme is NOT the vbulletin default, but I have the settings such that users get the one I have set for default and cannot change it.
If I edit one of their profiles, the style says "use forum default" but it just isn't doing it. I've even tried changing the style in the account to the one that is supposed to be loading and it still doesn't load. Have I missed something on creating the usergroup that is not giving them the theme I have set as default? Thanks! |

As far as I know, you cannot set a style for a particular usergroup using default vbulletin (I could be wrong since we aren't using 3.7, but...). It sounds like you are using a modification in which case you should ask this question in the modification thread.

Default style is set at vboptions > style & language settings > default style. After they log in, they may go to their user cp > edit options (or go to the bottom left of any page) and select another style. You said "Only users that I've made a member of this group get the non-default theme" and that is not possible with default vbulletin. If a style is marked as Allow User Selection > Yes, then any usergroup may select it. I was saying that if you have something that makes it so only one usergroup may use it, then that must be a modification.

Let me try to clairfy. I have a default style set in style and Language settings. Underneath that, I have selected "No" for allow users to change the default style. So, they never get a drop-down box for different styles at the bottom of the screen.
However, I just created a new user group. The ones in that user group are getting the NON-default style and I can't figure out hwo that could be. Any ideas? Thanks! |

Try doing a force refresh on the page or trying going to the page in a different browser. Your browser cache may be showing you the wrong style. As an Admin, you may view the site in any style you wish. Once you select a style though, it will stay in that style unless you click to go to another style. (This is sometimes an annoyance.)

I tried FIrefox and IE, ctrl-F5 on both. What's odd is I can flip this user between groups and this one particular, newly created group is the only one that is gooffed up. It makes no sense to me.

If you only have one style available for selection, then that should be the only style showing on the board unless the usergroup is a moderator/admin group (since they can see all styles). I don't understand why they would be seeing a style that can't even be viewed by regular users. I'd check the settings on the style itself under style > edit settings and make sure allow user selection is set to No.
