Multiple Site Deployment
Hi there, Everyone,
I'm hoping I can get some advice. I'm looking at using my vBulletin installation to create a network of sites; I already have an existing large-scale site (1.3 million posts, 30,000 users, 500 concurrent at peak). I originally thought about moving my pre-existing site to a new domain, which would host a complete network of sites. However, SEO is advising against any change in URLs of the pre-existing site. So, my question is: Is there a way to deploy multiple sites, on different domains, while using the same vBulletin installation? Thanks! |

If you are asking if you can run the same vB installation/license on two domains the answer is no.

I'm wondering if there are any best practices, tips and tracks, and general advice on how someone would go about doing it. I am debating between a couple of different solutions: either using hacks like above to create different branded versions of my main site; or, simply moving all of my sites to a site-neutral domain ("sitenetwork.com", for example) and then just running each site as a sub-site of my main site. Thoughts on which would work better, and be more feasible? Why or why not? |
