Mods Randomly Disappearing After Clicking Around Site
I have a very strange problem. I have a few mods installed that are randomly disappearing. We moved servers this weekend and then I upgraded the forums to 3.7.2 PL2 from 3.7.1. I then uploaded a custom skin and then added my mods back in, one by one so I could test them. They seemed to be working fine and then as I clicked around the site, I noticed different "parts" disappearing. For example, right now the Post Thank-You hack looks normal, but the statistics are displaying "0". Also, the Event forums hack "New Event" button has suddenly gone missing.
The first time this happened, I re-installed the mods fresh and they worked again...for a while. Another strange thing is that the second time this happened, I noticed that all my plugins/mods had been globally disabled. I thought I had just forgotten that I had done that, but now I'm not so sure I ever actually had disabled them! I have absolutely no clue why this would happen! Please help! |

Are you using the datastore (check your config file)? And when you moved servers, did you make sure to copy the file from the folder on the old server to the new one? Is it currently being written to?

No, that doesn't appear to be the problem. I'm not using the datastore. I did just clear my cache and now some things have shown up again, but it's still saying "0" for all the thank you counts, so there must be some other issue because those were showing up correctly earlier.

Have you looked in the database to see if there actually are counts in there (that they are not "0")? (And no, I have no idea what the table or columns are since I don't have that mod installed. You'd have to ask in the thread. And if you did an uninstall of this Mod already to see if it would work if you reinstalled, depending on the uninstall script, you may have delete those columns and then added them again during another install and thus they would all be zeroed out.)

also make sure that you are actually working on the new server, and not still loading things from the old server.

I figured it out just as I was gong to sleep last night. Lynn, you were right on. Caching was the first issue and the second was a case of my having deleted and then re-installed the mod while testing. I was so stuck on everything being part of the same problem, that I didn't think of that at first.
Thanks to you both for your help! It's nice to be able to come here and get help! |
