Is affiliation good idea?

Hi,

I've been asked to become an affiliate with another site, how do you know when this is a good idea or not, my site is fairly new and only has 107 members so far but their's has 30 members, so does this mean it's not such a good idea? Is it when both sites have roughly similar number of members that it's a good idea? I'm not sure.
