Is there a way i can retrieve a deleted PM from one of my forum users ?

Only if you have a backup of your database. Then you can install the database in another table and take a look from there. But there is no way to see it in your current database - it's gone.

ok i suspected as much i was hoping some obscure file somewhere would hold them

If both the sender and all receipants have deleted the PM, then a backup is your only option.

If 1 of the above has not deleted it, then it will still be in the pmtext table.
