Received This In Junk
Quote:
When I hit the encrypted link to dispute it, it said it was a site blocked for Web Forgery, looks like a Vista warning or FF 3 warning. Should I be worried or what? (( I pay coders and designers through paypal as well, and it never goes to junk, so why would this even if they did hack my account or something? )) |

Site Forgery are fake pirate sites identified to trick the users...
if you go to your paypal account, you will see if that information is correct, because you see all your transactions on your main page. if the information is not there, it is fake... this kind of spam/junk is well known... |

Never, never click on a link in such an email. Type the URL you think is belonging to the site in question (PayPal in this case) or use your browser favourites.
PS Did i say never to click on such a link? |

Where have you been for the past, like 4 years? People have been warning about these things since the start of spam. I would have expected more nous from a web-savvy admin! |

You should also forward it to: spoof@paypal.com

did the email come from service@intl.paypal.com ? thats where paypal emails originate from, if it isn't from there, its not real.
Also, check your PP account(through a bookmark, not the link provided in the email) ... do you see a transaction that matches what the email says? |

Seeing the thread title, I was vaguely hoping someone else had received similar spam to me.
Apparently, since my site had reached the heady heights of 60k or so on the Alexa rankings, my participation in a survey to determine the future of the web (or something similar to that) would be appreciated. A thousand lucky respondants would get Ipods. Alexa actually shows the site as currently at 90k or so (it dropped after a bit of a farking we received that nearly killed the server...), so the information it claims is old. Of course, I junked the email and went about my day. Of course, if they'd offered cookies or something similar... Rapscallion |
