Prevent subforums showing

This ones a little confusing to explain but I'll try my best!

On the homepage of my forum if a forum A has subforums a, b and c you can't see them until you open forum A.

When you are in forum A however, you can see all of the subforums that subforums a, b and c have. How can I stop them showing up until the relevant subforum is opened!?

nm I got it

it was under vbulletin options as "depth of forum"
