I am not currently interested in enabling the use of albums for the members at my website. Disabling the 3.7 albums however has disabled a feature which I'd really like members to have on my forum. Thus, this question arises.

Has anyone successfully modified the profile customizations so that users can upload a background image for their profile, without having that image in their album? Since I don't have albums, I need users to be able to put a background image on their personal profile without actually having that image in an album. vBulletin has restricted the profile backgrounds to pictures in albums only.
