How do I do a Web Directory like this in vB

I want to have a website directory exactly like this in vB. I find it small, simple and sweet. Need tips on how to begin !!

vBAdvanced has a Links Directory, but it is a paid modification.

PHPLD is pretty basic software, but people are working on vbulletin integration.

WSN links is very advanced, but does not offer any other integration than login integration.

vBAdvanced links is still basic, but Brian is really working hard to make it into a full featured link directory. I suspect that in time, vBA links may become the best option.

I think my question was not clear. well.. I need a link/web directory exactly like this for vB. I personally find it really simple and nice. I just need some basic guidance on how to start creating my own for vB i.e. how to create one for my vB site.

When you say "integration", what exactly would that involve?

login, 'Who's online' on links page, user permissions, tags, sitemap, Style integration., possibly vbadvanced integration.

I would stay away from all vba products, if it were me... try the vbgeek's Gars.
I have it setup with a directory on my forum

and as mentioned above, phpld has integrated there directory with vBulletin

yes I saw vBgeeks Gars earlier at your site and at vbcoderz. also submitted a link there

but sir, I do not want to go for a paid link directory. As mentioned earlier, I want to get a custom one done for my vB site just like the one I mentioned in post 1 and 4. I think it won't be tough to make one exactly like that integrated in vB.

Need some basic guidance on how to create one myself !! I could not find a complete tutorial anywhere to do such things.

I do like the original directory that veenu linked to - very simple and sweet, as he noted. (Although it's not anything I need for my site.)

I would think you could write an external page with a form and submit that info into a table you create. Each field in the form would have it's own column. I do wonder what the page does when you get, say, 20 sites listed. Does it go to another page or are they all listed on the one page?

oh yes.. it goes to another page right after certain number of entries (currently set to 20) and a recordset navigation bar appears.

I have already created a table called [prefix]linkdir with 1 column for each field. I also created a custom vB powered page called links.php that fetches a template.

Actually, for the first time I am playing with vB's database. I am not able to understand how to insert data programmatically through links.php on submission of the form that I created through the template.

I wish if there could be a simple working copy/paste example with inserting/updating/retreiving/deleting codes that I can play with. I really want that on my vB site.
