[How] add template with xml?

2 Q's
1. How can i add/upload a custom template with a product/plugin xml file?
2. How can I add a little piece of code to a specifix template using the same xml?

I have searched for ages and cant seem to find what im looking for.

Are you writing this product/plugin yourself? Just turn on debug mode when you write it and then when you add the template, use the drop-down to put it into your product. Then, when you export your product, it will export the code for your template also. This goes for adding settings into vboptions also.

I can't see how to do the debug thing I've added the code in config to turn it on and I see the dropdown at the bottom of it but.....

how do I add the custom template to the product?
can you show me how a basic xml should look?
