Ignore threads by prefix

I'm looking for a way that would essentially let users pick from all of the thread prefixes on our forum to create a customized view of the forum that only includes the topics they are interested in. Is there any way to easily accomplish that? Essentially, the ideal modification would be to create a place where users could check off each of the prefixes they want to see, and those would just disappear from the forum.

Another option might be to somehow use the existing pulldown for filters, but allow users to select more than one.

Any ideas or assistance would be appreciated.
