Help! Hacked by Spammer?
I hope someone can help me.
I'm admin for a site that requires new users to be approved. All was going fine, until one day we noticed 2 things. First, the approval process was no longer working and new applications were being allowed immediate access (once they confirmed their email). Second, a spammer had applied (so I suspect these 2 are related). When I started to investigate, I noticed that COPPA had been disabled. I checked the Admin logs, but found nothing. One of the other admins had deleted the spammer's account (so I suspect if this is related, then his history was deleted as well) So my questions are: Is it possible we were hacked? Has anyone else had this happen? How do I fix this now? Thanks for ANY help you can give me? |

Go to vB.com and post this. There's where you'll find help concerning things like this.

I think the disabling of COPPA would show up in the Control Panel Logs, not the Moderator Logs.

Apologies. I didn't mean to walk on your toes, Lynne. On vB.com is where I see posts for forums getting hacked. Thought I'd pass that on, to help rkolig. I know he's not too darn happy right now.
