Drupal or ContentTeller?
Well, as I own a tech site, I'm looking for a CMS system, where I can write the latest tech news ect; similar to these sites: www.techspot.com, www.neowin.net
Now, which CMS system would you pick for something I'm after doing? ContentTeller is the successor of Storyteller found here. Please post your comments here --------------- Added [DATE]1208796730[/DATE] at [TIME]1208796730[/TIME] --------------- Anyone to comment ? |

That is the forums. MajorGeeks use StoryTeller (ContentTeller is successor of StoryTeller). Also, TechSpot use StoryTeller. It comes with the following modules: Acquire (Import module), Articles (for reviews and articles), Blocks (to manage the blocks left and right), CompatDB (a client for the CompatDB.org project), Contacts (to manage news contacts), Content (for pages and forms), Core (to manage some core settings), Files (to run a file/download website), Filetypes (to manage filetypes - needed for the attachment function), Glossary (a glossary), Import (to import data from RSS, Email or news servers), Knowledgebase (a FAQ/knowledgebase module), Links (a module for your web links/links pages), Mailinglists (a mailing lists module), Modules (a module to install/upgrade/remove modules – included in preview 5 and higher), news (a news/blog module), Online (a module to show online admins in the admin control panel), Stats (a module for web stats including page views, browsers, referrers etc.), Templates (a module to manage the templates and style of the website), Tickets (A trouble ticket module), and Users (a module to manage user accounts). In all seriousness -- Why don't you try each one of them out and see which one suits your needs?
If you want my opinion, Drupal obliterates both Joomla and ContentTeller with an iron fist. Drupal is extremely powerful, but it does have a strong learning curve that not everyone is dedicated to learning. |

Yeah, I plan trying them, just wanted to get a few ideas. Why do you think Drupal is better than Joomla and ContentTeller? Have you ever seen ContentTeller in action?

Joomla is just like every other cms. Modules and themes need to be programmed to fit INTO Joomla, if that makes sense?
Both Joomla and Drupal have a great user community full of new contributions constantly, and that is a great benefit for them over ContentTeller. Drupal is seriously so powerful. You can do anything you ever dreamed of without knowing a great amount of programming. Drupal has a great team of developers that is great at pushing their product forward and keeping it secure. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think ContentTeller is made by no more than three people. (that's not necessarily a bad thing, perhaps you will find that ContentTeller is what you're looking for) Drupal is the most flexible framework that exists right now. I say that with me personal experience backing me up. |

You have valid points. ContentTeller doesn't have many, I believe there is only one person working on it (Phillip).
Can Drupal integrate with vBulletin. Any module ? |

The current releases are only technical previews that are encoded and will expire after some time. I mainly released these previews for the current license holders of Storyteller CMS. Contentteller was originally version 2.0 of Storyteller CMS, but I changed the name because there is not much left from the original code base. The official launch of the Contentteller project website is planned for next month. At this time Contentteller will be available as visible source. |

Thanks for that...! Besides login integration, what other benefits are there? Could you pull threads from the forums, and display in a little block called "Latest Discussion". Any other advantages ?
To add, the news page with Drupal (which I'll customize), is it a seperate page, where your members can make comments? Does vBDrupal integrate member comments, to link to a members profile in the forums ? |
