Registration in non-VB page
Hi, I am using VB member table as master user table for the entire site. I want to create a registration page in the main site; This registration page should access VB tables to insert a new record for member and should generate the activation email. Is there any mod/ article that describes how to do this? I looked at couple of mods, that explain how to login from non-vb page.
I am looking for ways to get user register in the main site, not only in the forums. Thanks! |

If vB's member table is the master table, then why not redirect users to vBulletin's register.php page? It is a far easier method then trying to create your own page and duplicate functions which already exist...

That's what we already do. Some of our users have no idea about the concept of forum and get confused when they see registration rules page for the forum. Our main site users register to keep track of their transactions in the site. Only 50% of our users use forums.
I want to give the look and feel of main site in the registration page if the user tries to register from the main site. If the user sees the forum registration page, it looks like a totally different domain, at least for some of them. There is another issue also. When the user activates his account, he lands in vbulletin page. He gets to see "Your account is activated, you can go to forums index page" kind of message. Some users go like "What forum?" This is why I want to keep the main site users and forum users separate atleast in the registration and activation pages. |

Just display a notice to them then...
I mean I don't see why you want to go to all this trouble just due to some misdirected members. Provide them with the information that they are still on your site and that the registration processes have been merged or something like that. If you are still adamant on creating your own page then you can try: Add new Users (automatically). But from my point of view it is a bit of a waste of time to be honest. |
