3.7 photo gallery going to be the thing?
Is the new in the box Photo Gallery going to let us not have to go with the not-free-3rd party hack, or integration issues with Gallery 2 or other php based photo galleries?
I have a new site, and if I can avoid integration issues, or tossing out $100+ if what is in the 3.7 is going to allow for end users to upload photos - galleries - galleries with permissions to upload, comment, move, delete or view - rss type way to pull the latest or random pictures to put on the landing page vBulletin has everything but the kitchen sink, and its great to see even more being added |

There is no ability to move pictures from one album to the next though.

For a family site that is a huge deal, which is why CS was junk with its initial efforts. Home users move things around a lot - take a ton of pictures, upload, shuffle, sort, etc..
But for a community site, things generally are - an organized event - Christmas Party 2007 never to be moved into Halloween Party 2006 - a person's own gallery - Storpappa's shutter stop not to be mixed with Pauls photos - a dump bucket linked in posts Sure you might need to do cleanup and organization, but if thats the only ding going for it as an RC1 feature in 3.7, I will have to take the plunge and upgrade to the RC1 now. If I can make a gallery - 2008-03 party and have pictures that are only viewable by groups - 2008-01 parade - viewable by all including unregistered Then I am good to go with that. End users just stay in the vBulletin UI and AdminCP, and no integration or playing with skins? |

You can now share albums in 3.7 RC1 which helps to replace some of the features of other commercial photo gallery addons. Its a start but not a complete replacement. Sure if money is tight then its a really big plus.

It definatelly is not a replacement. I'm running photopost currently and I actually wanted to ditch it with the latest version of VB, however it is not possible due to the fact its missing so many features.

Is there a complete features list for the 3.7 photo gallery feature or better yet, an analysis?
I needa photo gallery and don't mind the setup or costs. I just want a good system that integrates great and has the forums look and feel so if they make future changes it cascades down to the photo gallery. And of course a single security permissions system for public and private photos |

Did that and so far all I found was the ability for an individual user to create albums underneathe their own profile.
Unless I am missing something that does not look like a community photo gallery where I could post albums for events or add them under forums for visibility. It looks more like a personal facebook type gallery then a community wide "forum" for posts of the type - images |

There is a Mod on this site that allows you to create or share member albums Publically. I think thats more of what you are wanting the album feature to be able to do?
