How do i set it so that only the usergroups of my choice can access a certain forum?

Yep. Very effective at controlling who goes where.

Setting permissions is labor intensive up front, but for a large board with more than a couple of user groups it is a very good feature.

We have a sub-forum with NSFW posts in it. Users must ask specifically for permission to view that forum. We also have an Admin forum that moderators and registered users can't view. Helps us take care of business without having the hoi polloi chiming in with their inanities.
