Default Help.. Upgrade Motherboard.. :?

I need to put a new mother board in the kids' comp. Right now it has an elitegroup all one in it with a amd 950. 64x64 PC133 512 ram. The usb hubs burnt out (you can see I added a usb card) and now, the final blow... The monitor connector is broke! So I want to replace it wit another all in one.

What kind of all in one can I use. I'd rather an amd or something that lets the OS boot back up. I would like it to fit the ram dimm I have too! less then 100 bucks to boot. LOL remember... its a kids computer.

Here are some motherboard cpu combos/bundle (the all in one I have now has the processor soldered to it).

I dont know what would be the best deal.. They like to watch DVD's on it and the current system would freeze a lot.

I want to keep the power supply which all I can see says 115V. Once I get the board updated I'll add another dimm of 512 ram.

Can you help a girl out? LOL

If I was rich Nex, I'd buy a Mac, just to see what all your hype is about!

motherboards are relatively easy to change out, the only issue will be when adding the front side ports, like a usb port on the front of the case.
You'll have a dozen to 2 dozen single wires that you'll have to plugin to the motherboard.

I would suggest maybe one of the 400$ laptops that come with a linux OS, an open source photo editing software, open office, and an IM client as well as wireless net with a firefox browser.

You should be safe from spyware and viruses, and you don't have to go through the trouble of changing out a motherboard.

I know this is more then you want to spend, but that's what I would do for a kids PC.

cheers

btw.. We have 2 pc's and a macbook pro in the house and I love them all

Lucky both sides of this tower come off. So I was praying that the usb in the front wouldn't be too hard LOL. Im totally not afraid to swap it out..

I'm just sooo not very good with all the specs. Buss this and socket that. On board graphics quality. all that jazz... *sigh*

Oooh and my noob DH got one of those 400 laptops that has a gig of ram.. Its pretty great but just not in the budget ATM. Also, I have a new hard drive and DVD burner in this computer and I'd hate to lose that cost :?
