Default Activation E-Mail Problems

is there a reason why people would not be getting the activation e-mail

i even tried setting it up to send the e-mails through the smpt server or what ever

is there any setting in the php files them selfs that could help fix any problems?

the fast i get this fixed the better

thanks

You will need to start by figuring out where it goes wrong. Are the mails actually sent from your server? Are they maybe catched by a Spam filter at the client side? Etc..

Start by running Email Diagnostics under: AdminCP -> Maintenance -> Diagnostics.

Some good reading (thanks Alfa1 for the link in your sig): Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo & AOL's guidelines for bulk mailing need your attention.

Upgrading to a new vBulletin version will most likely not make any difference at all regarding emails.

Run the Diagnostics and if that does not give a clue to why they fail, ask your host to inspect the mailserver log files.

people with AOL, or there own such as me@mine.co.uk do not get the emails you have to allow Vbulletin to send emails to unknown address's i had this problem at first and because the first 30 - 40 people had there own email address's i couldnt figure out the problem so then i registerd multiple times with multiple hotmail accounts and i got an email everytime which backed up my theory

well yahoo and hotmail are the main problems

some times they get sent some times they dont

it dont make any since at all

cause like i said there is nothing in the error logs and no bounced e-mails

they just are not being sent

idk im thinking about disabeling the whole email activation thing any ways i already got a ton of things that stops spam bots from posting anyways i just got to turn them on

You are very likely jumping to the wrong conclusion. If someone does not receive/see an email, then you can not conclude that it wasn't sent. It could be sent (likely) but not accepted by the Mail provider of the member (ie. ditched in a dark pit full of spam?)
