I posted this over at vbulletin and was directed that I should ask over here.
My current setup: CMS e107 version 0.7.9 Forums Vbulletin version 3.6.7 PL1 (yes I know I need to update it) I have never used the e107 built in forums. Never liked them and that is what made me go out and purchase a Vbulletin license. In the current site setup users have to sign up for the main site (e107 login) and also have to make an account for the forums (Vbulletin login). All I would like to accomplish is to have one login for my users. They login to the main site (e107) and can view the forums also without needing a separate login. I have two usergroups in e107 and several in the forums. So ideally I would like for the e107 login to be as if the person was logging into vbulletin. Then I can just add the other two usergroups in vbulletin. I run a gaming clan. We have been longstanding for over 7 years now (100+ clan members and around 400 or so registered users) and no sight of slowing down. The only reason I chose e107 is for a few certain plugins which interact with my game server (medal of honor allied assualt). These being the Live Game Server List plugin, the Ventrilo plugin and the Clan Info Menu plugin. All of these are essential to my site. Now after looking at each of these, it seems as though I could possibly carry over the ventrilo, and the LGSL plugins to another cms as there are stand alone versions of these, however the clan info (probably the most important) which shows who is and who is not a member of the Area51 clan is strictly for e107. I do not see any other cms which provides a similar plugin. Sure I could do it with a simple html page, but the plugin is nice as it when it comes time to promotion time (every month or so) I just simply go to the plugin choose the the new rank from the dropdown box and apply. I am open to suggestions here too. I do know some php. I have messed with e107, phpbb and now vbulletin enough to get my way through most of the coding. Classes however still get me confused and the whole OO concept seems not to be sinking in with me. What I would really like is to research some sort of solution to where I can have 1 login system which entails both a cms and vbulletin together. Be that finding a new cms (drupal, joomla, phpbb3, etc) or simply being able to migrate my current setup into 1 login system and any future user signups to be registered with both packages. My current setup is here: http://www.area51moh.com/ Thanks and any insight on how to do this if possible would be appreciated. Could I make use of this for what I am wanting to accomplish? |
