subforum (forumdisplay) styling

We have a couple fo forums with a large, 50/60, subforums so when people go to 2cd level page there is scrolling down through them before topics can be read.

I've searched through here quite a bit for any mods that offer viewing options for subforum, all seem to only deal with the Home Page, not the 2cd and deeper pages , controlled by forumdisplay.php I beleive.

Im posting this hoping some kind soul will point me to anything I missed along this line.

things like - presenting subforums by latest posted to first, or adding pagination to thier display, or perhaps in columns, etc

We have this structure becasue we recently upgraded form DiscuswWare Pro and the importex create dall of this structure.

yes we are also looking at mnaully, admin cp, merging/consolidating , etc.

Since I noticed this similar topic, I figured that I'd avoid starting a whole new thread.

I'm trying to do something to organize things and make the subforums display in a user-friendly manner as well.

I'm hoping to possibly have a tabbed approach to these subforums and group the band names alphabetically with tabs (A-E, F-J, etc). Where within forumdisplay.php should I edit and add the tabbed approach?

I want to add an "If conditional" so that this 'tabbed' approach only happens within this forum, so I could use some help with that as well.

Any thoughts?

You'd need to edit the forumhome_forumbit_level1_post template I beleive.

To get the tabbed look. It'll probably be easiest to make another parent subforum, for each A-E, F-J etc, then put the forums for each band under those.

Then edit the forumhome_forumbit_levl1_post template (i forget the conditional) to say if this forum == your band forum then use the tabbed layout) else use the regular layout.

... to do the actual tabs. Could I do something with this script or maybe adapt Bobster's Tabbed Forum Home mod to use there?
