Three Honest Questions about vBulletin.org

1. Is this forum ever going to run the vBulletin Blog or Project Tools? Because the latter might be useful for something or another...

2. I guess vBulletin.org will upgrade to version 3.7 upon the first stable release, correct?

3. I often see non working smiley code in old posts, so is there a reason why the smilies that this forum may have used to have were basically scrapped in favour of the vBulletin defaults?

1. Maybe. There have been various discussions on the topic.

2. Yes, I believe vBulletin.org will upgrade to 3.7 when it reaches gold.

3. I'll leave this one to someone else.

First of all our next major upgrade will be to implement 3.7 once it is final. This might take some time as we have a lot of custom functions to check/update.

If we will ever implement additional products like Blog (doubt this one) or Project Tools then it will be because we have the need for it, not just because we want to install more.

2. I was mainly meaning the Project Tools, but thanks for clarifying.

3. I saw a few topics from 2005 and earlier with reference to possibly a dancing banana smiley (with something like banana. There were probably others, but an attempt to see what the smilies from 2002-2005 were like at the Internet Archive turned out that it hadn't indexed the smiley page or the FAQ page in the 7-8 years this site was running.

2. If there was a need to implement Project Tools (PT) on vBulletin.org then we would do so. But that will only be done if we have a clear goal with it, we are not going to install it just for the fun of it. (and yes we have something in the pipeline that might be using PT).

3. We are currently mostly using only the default smilies.

Blogs - unlikely atm, most people already have blogs and don't need another.

PT - In the long term we would like to use some PT features, but what we want requires custom coding, which in turn requires us to have the time to write/test that coding.

3.7 - Yes, we will move to this at some point after it goes gold. There is no hurry.

We swapped to the default smilies as part of the new styles last January. There are no plans to change them or fix old posts.
