1&1- Hosting...
Ive already reg a second Domain and want to set up a Forum site so I was recommended to vBulletin. Ive looked around this pre-sales forum and found not much on diff hosting.
Also saw some CM threads and not sure where to head with that. I already had someone design a good site and its hosted on 1&1 with joomla, but I did none of the install and pretty much just look after updates. Any help? |

What is your actual question? You don't seem to ask a question...

If i remember correct, 1&1 does limit database size to 100Mb on shared accounts, which will give you problems in the long run.
Questions on how to install vBulletin can be answered once you have purchased a license. |

1 and 1 is the worst company I have ever dealt with, try host gator for hosting...

I just didnt expect to have to buy vB before I could look over the install to make sure I could install it with my current hosting. Im sure there is some good reasons why the install is not made public, but that has kept me hesitant on the purchase so far. |

I used the 1and1.com business package and did not like it. Not only it is hard to deal with their tech support if you need it but the mysql database only allowed 100mb. So I switched to hostgator and no problems. I say ditch 1and1.com and find someone else. Your site will not be allowed to grow large with 1and1. But vB will work on there as I had running on there for a year or so.

1and1 shared hosting plans aren't very good IMHO, however, their customer support is extremely good. Their VPS plans, however, are a much better value compared to other hosts. If you plan on sticking with shared hosting, I'd recommend HostMonster (600GB space, 6TB/month, 100 databases (no size limitation), unlimited subdomains). If you plan on staying with 1and1 I'd recommend upgrading to a VPS or dedicated account. If you do switch to another host, keep 1and1 for the domain package (even if you don't use their hosting packages), as 1and1 has the lowest price on domains I've ever found.
