Styling stickies, announcement and polls?

I have tryed to add:
.sticky {
background-color: #7dacd6;
}

in additional CSS definitions but nothing happens, I have seen this in vBstyles.com before, do I hafto do any template changes for it to work? And is it possible to style quote boxes?
