get donations?

Just because you have the option to accept donations you shouldn't expect to receive any donations because when you post here your posting/supporting your product on a free basis.

If the real question is why aren't I receiving enough donations then you will have to build on a good reputation, release your products so people will know your product(s) are sound. Look at posting your products here as your portfolio and nothing else and at the same time expecting nothing (financially speaking) in return.

I have donated to a few people as well as purchased a couple commercial version of "lite" addons and skins distributed here.

Yes, I think i've got about five or six donations in the last four years.

As someone who buys add-ons for my site, I do not mind paying a developer a fee for their work.

Their is nothing unfair or unethical about being rewarded for your labor.
