Does anyone know what to use for placing links from link exchanges?

I wanted to start doing link exchanges with sites like linkalizer, etc. But I don't really know where I should put the links and dont you have to add the text also...like whatever is given when both admins agree to exchange?

I was wondering if there was a mod for a template or something that has boxes or something, I dont know. Can someone point me in a direction?
