Certain forums I would like to not only contain a list of the threads in that category but some other things such as another table, some images etc.

Is there anyway I can be able to edit just one of the forumdisplay pages?

Or perhaps change it so that the category has it's own page (custom-category.php).

Anyone done this before?

Yes, its fairly easy if you know what you are doing. I'm sure there are lots of members that know how to do this and have done it for their own sites. Maybe someone will take the time to explain it to you for free or you can request Paid.
