How to register variables to be available in templates

Hi all,

I created a few variables.

Put them in Global Start.

Tried to check their values using <if condition"xxxxxxxx"> in the templates.

It seems the variables which I created are out of template scope.

So anybody know how I can create variables which will be in template scope.
