Advertising newbie....input?

I'm a bit new to advertising on the forums and don't quite understand some of the terms and purposes for some things.

Can someone please tell me what purpose Ad Sharing serves? I'm trying to determine if it's something we want to consider. I understand it as a way to allow users to advertise, but how exactly?

I'm considering vBAdMangagement 4.01 and I've asked my question in that thread, but good gosh, there's a ton of posts in there. Naturally, my post gets overshadowed.

I'm trying to understand how we could utilize Ad Sharing on our forum. I understand that this would be forum independent, but perhaps someone can explain it in a bit more detail to me?

I'd appreciate any input.
