I am trying to move a forum from one vBulletin board to another vB board located on another domain. So far the only option I have is to import the entire board to the target domain (it's a big board ). Or copy the database and move it as well (that's 1gig).
So far I have been trying to use Impex - but it won't work unless I have the full database on the target domain. The 1 gig file is way too problematic to deal with. This seems like a simple problem that I'm sure some people have run into if you are managing more than one board. Is there a plugin to do this? Help me please ![]() |

What method are you using to move the database from one server to the other? I move our database backup a couple of times a week from one server to another and have no problems. It only takes a couple minutes and it's about 700 MB.

I can telnet to my source server and do a mysqldump. The problem is that I am limited to a max file size, so I have to split the database into three pieces - download these, and then piece them together on my harddrive, and then upload them to the target server. My computer runs out of memory while trying to piece these three files together into one (they are +300mb each). Believe me, I've been pulling my hair out on this one
![]() But this seems so silly to go through this when all I'm trying to do is move a couple of forums from one vbulletin to another. I'm hoping that someone has developed a mod to do just that. |

Ask your old host if they can make the backup for you in a single file, then FTP directly from server to server.

Got it - done it - thanks!
But it's a hell of a lot of work just for a couple of threads ![]() |
