VideoGameChat.net
Hey people.
I've been a user of VBulletin for quite some time now, and a webmaster in my spare time. I only noticed this review subforum tonight, and I have one site in particular that I would like an honest and considerate review of. http://www.videogamechat.net is the main site http://forums.videogamechat.net is the main forums The site uses a custom made CMS that in also employed on FFRepublic (some hear might have heard of it) and Zelda Universe (the fansite, not the official site). It is integrated with VBulletin directly, and allows members to post news on the site themselves, which then appears on the site and forums, with replies to the news and such automatically being generated on the site when members comment on the forums. The general idea with this was to get the community involved more, and help with content creation in the process. Sadly the system isn't for sale, at least not by me. The forums use a fairly modified template, but nothing excessively flashy. The idea, from my perspective, was to keep it clean and tidy, without over running the site with tacked on features. Of the hacks we have installed, they include NuWiki (some of our members and staff use that to make game guides), and Triple Triad. Profiles are a custom template originally designed by a friend, Dave, but modified in design by myself a bit, and include Xbox Live Gamertags and Wii Code hacks to emphasise our gaming focus. (Best example: http://forums.videogamechat.net/member.php?u=221) That's a basic (or probably too elaborate. ) overview of the place. Please offer whatever advice you can, improvement, critiques, and hopefully a bit of praise. *laughs* |
