how do I move the users avatar and name to the side of the post as apposed to above it?

Admin CP --> vBulletin Options --> vBulletin Options --> Style & Language Settings at:

Use Legacy (Vertical) Postbit Template = Yes

Keep in mind that any edits you have made to the posbit template will have to be redone in the postbit_legacy template.

By the way.. your forums have got to be the weirdest I've come by thus far :P No offense intended.
