Forum for each city in my excel database
Hello,
Help Wanted Announcement: Programmer Wanted I have an excel database with all of the cities in the U.S. I would like to have a forum for each city. Is there someone out there who may be interested in using my database of cities (51,000) and creating a seperate VBulletin forum page for each. I know this can be done manually, but I am looking for a simpler method. Thank you. Regards, Barry H. |

How would Vb perform with 51,000 forums?

It all really depends if your server can handle it. vBulletin can handle it if your server can.

Actually that's considerably over the top end of what a server would be able to cope with because of how the datastore cache works.
Though it may be possible to accomplish the same concept with tags and or thread prefixes. |

I know this is getting out of the scope of this thread topic, but how many is too many forums to have for your average shared hosted vb install?
Or, actually, better question would be how many forums are too many in which you'll see a performance hit? And would too may forums cause a slow board in normal everyday operations? I realize that a lot of this depends on server hardware, but I'm talking in general terms on a vb install with no hacks applied. |

Its really hard to say, though the largest forums I'm aware of are no bigger than 3000 forums. The majority of the larger forums are 1.5k.
I'd assume anything past 500 usergroups/forums/categorys would start to make some sort of impact. |

I am running a forum with about 2300 forums, no significant impact as of yet.
I am trying to find a good thread prefix mod that works the way I want it to though, anyone know of any besides these two? https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=99925 https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...=thread+prefix ?? |
